Description This Powerpoint presentation file from the EB 2019 Trainee Symposium features Merry Lindsey, PhD, of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, who discusses how to build marketable skills that attract recruiters. In the academic arena where faculty positions are difficult to obtain, distinguishing yourself from the pack will give you an advantage. Marketing yourself is a way to develop your brand name, and this talk discusses ways to authentically demonstrate your uniqueness. Starting as a trainee will provide maximum control over how your brand develops with time and enable you to control how others perceive you. This is a discussion on why it is important to market yourself and highlight methods to self-assess, develop your pitch, and network effectively.
