Description This is a collection of professional skills for trainees. "Engaging with Scientific Literature" is a ten-week seminar course designed to expose undergraduate students to primary scientific literature through step-by-step, hands-on interaction with different aspects of the literature. Skills targeted include: locating appropriate resources, skimming articles, analyzing figures, skeptical thinking, and scientific writing and presentation. The last three weeks of the course are focused on preparing students to seek undergraduate research experience through exploration of research occurring on campus and preparation of a mini-review of an area of interest.
